The defining characteristic of the fifth stage was the necessity of integrating the site into a matured TSF complex. This situation required the application of welding and connection details at the boundary regions of the new cell without damaging the operating facility. During slope lining, the gravity-assisted trenching method was preferred in steep cuts; the panel deployment direction was shifted to early morning hours, taking into account prevailing winds and thermal expansion.
The protection geotextile laid beneath the HDPE geomembrane acted as a buffer against hard lateritic nodules protruding in places from the subgrade. The certification check of the welding operators was renewed with trial seams at the beginning of each shift; thus, the change in polymer behavior under tropical afternoon temperatures was continuously monitored, and machine parameters were updated accordingly.
With the completion of the stage, the facility gained ready infrastructure for capacity increases planned in subsequent years. The field personnel's experience accumulated from previous phases directly reflected on the schedule discipline of the fifth stage.
