The work carried out at the Lafigue site was a greenfield waste storage facility lining that had to be completed within a short and intense schedule. The tight window until the start of the rainy season required the parallel organization of equipment mobilization and panel deployment methodology. HDPE geomembrane roll unrolling, panel cutting, and welding operations were progressed simultaneously in sequential shifts in areas where site preparation was completed.

A textured surface was preferred on the slope gradients; while on the base geometry, the smooth surface liner was secured within anchor trenches. Daily production matching was performed between extrusion welding operators and wedge welding crews, and the quality control flow was managed through a single monitoring table. The locally swelling nature of the lateritic soil led to additional rolling passes in the subgrade preparation; the acceptance process was completed without any issues in any transition zone during containment tests.

Completed simultaneously with the initial production processes of the new gold mine, the facility was delivered to the employer within the pre-planned timeframe.
