GCL (Geosynthetic Clay Liner)
A thin-section hydraulic barrier working with sodium bentonite placed between two geotextiles; replaces the clay layer in storage, mining pond and infrastructure containment projects.
Thin barrier alternative to compacted clay
GCL provides permeability at the level of ≤ 5×10⁻¹¹ m/s in a 6–10 mm cross-section thanks to sodium bentonite swelling upon hydration. The needle-punched bonded structure provides high internal shear strength, while its self-healing property seals minor damages occurring during deployment.

A structure meeting engineering requirements in a single product
The product consists of a bottom carrier geotextile, sodium bentonite granules in the middle layer, and a top cover geotextile. The needle-punching procedure builds fiber bridges between the two geotextiles to prevent bentonite displacement and maintains stability on sloped surfaces.
