The Ovacık site is an irreversible milestone in Turkey's modern gold mining; being involved in the four-year TSF construction process formed the foundation of the experience pool that elevated our team's geosynthetic installation discipline to its current level. The site is located in the rolling topography of the Aegean, and the hydraulic integrity of the basin where cyanide tailings slurry is to be stored required the lining system to be installed flawlessly down to the smallest detail.

HDPE geomembrane deployment was carried out by performing panel planning according to the site's natural slope and slope geometry; double-track extrusion and hot wedge techniques were used together on seam lines, and channel containment was verified individually at each panel seam via pressure tests. During subgrade preparation, the removal of sharp aggregates and organic residues was critical for membrane longevity, and an additional protection layer was applied in soft subgrade areas.

As one of Turkey's first large-scale gold mine waste facilities, Ovacık generated a reference technical dataset for many subsequent TSF projects realized in later years. The QA/QC protocols applied on-site during the project form the core of Yesti's current field inspection standards.
