In the hot-arid climate of the Sahel belt, sharp transitions between the rainy and dry seasons require strict schedule discipline in geomembrane deployment. In this geography with high UV exposure, the time elapsed from panel unrolling to seam completion was kept short, and hot wedge welding was preferred over extrusion welding during midday temperature peaks to guarantee seam quality.

The HDPE geomembrane system applied in the waste storage facility was delivered with a minimum seam line by optimizing the panel layout plan according to the site topography following subgrade preparation. Within the scope of non-destructive testing, air pressure tests and vacuum box checks were applied to all seam lines, while destructive samples were subjected to peel and shear tests in the site laboratory.

Uninterrupted management of material flow in West African sites where logistical challenges are decisive, employment of local labor alongside qualified operators, and quality control documentation complying with international standards ensured the completion of the project on the schedule projected by the employer.
